POET CHRONICLES

DESIGNED BY POETS FOR POETS

Poet Chronicles is a collaborative poetry video initiative created by Spoken Culture that spotlights emerging and established poets through short-form visual storytelling.

The project transforms poetry into short cinematic micro-stories designed for social media, helping poets share their work with wider audiences while documenting contemporary poetic voices.

Each piece captures the quiet act of writing. Rather than performance-based poetry videos, Poet Chronicles focuses on the moment of creation, the poet writing their work, paired with a recorded voiceover of the poem.

The project is developed in partnership with Antler River Poetry, 3AM Film, XuuX Studio with additional collaborators and community partners currently being invited to support the initiative.

How it works

Each month, four poets are invited to participate in Poet Chronicles.

Each poet selects five poems, which are developed into short-form video pieces designed for Social Media Channels. Filming takes place during a single dedicated production day each month, where poets are recorded writing their work and capturing voice recordings.

Videos are released throughout the month on the Spoken Culture’s Social Media Channels with poets invited as collaborators so the content appears on both accounts and reaches wider audiences.

This initiative will run from April 2026 to December 2026 and depending on funding be expanded into a film project in 2027.

Partnerships

Poet Chronicles welcomes collaboration with poets, filmmakers, arts organizations, cultural institutions, and community spaces that share an interest in storytelling, media production, and community arts.

Funding & Community Support

During its first year, the project will rely largely on volunteer contributions and in-kind creative support, with collaborators donating their time and resources to help launch the initiative.

Spoken Culture is currently applying to the London Arts Council Community Arts Investment Program (CAIP) to support production costs and the development of the year-end documentary. If successful, grant funding will help cover production expenses and allow the project to offer honorariums to volunteers and creative contributors.

All honorariums are subject to funding and the outcome of grant applications.

There’s something special about having your words held in a moment like this. Poet Chronicles captured not just my poetry, but the feeling behind it. It felt honest, raw, and true to who I am as an artist.
